The Moscow Automobile Ring Road(MKAD) is one of the largest traffic arteries in Moscow.
The original ring road surrounding Moscow was built in the 1940s. In the 1950s and 1960s, the road was repaired and in the 1990s it was re-repaired.
There are no single-level crossings with other traffic roads throughout the ring road and five traffic lanes are available in each direction. Its current throughput is 216,000 automobiles per day or 9,000 per hour; the speed limit is 100 km/h.
